We invite you to a series of explorations in jazz, spoken word, and dance. 
 
This session will feature spoken word performances by Omi Osun Joni Jones andStephanie Lang,
with improvisational music by the BLACK PROJECT
featuring
Joao Vargas (bass), Bruce Saunders (guitar), Steve Schwelling (drums), and Pete Rodriguez (trumpet). 
 
Omi Osun Joni Jones is the founder/producer of The Austin Project (tAP), an art-based process for social change that engages the primary principles of the Jazz Aesthetic: rigorous honesty, presence, virtuosity, and community accountability.  As an Associate Professor in The African and African American Diaspora Studies Dept., Omi Osun Joni Jones specializes in performance scholarship that focuses on identity, ethnography, Yoruba-based performance aesthetics, Black Feminisms and Theatre for Social Change.
